Month of giving campaign
September 2024
Month of giving campaign details
We are excited to announce that the Community Foundation for Independence has received a grant from the Patterson Foundation to help raise funds for qualified causes for use in a matching grant. The Board of Directors has decided to use this as a way to help our partner organizations raise funds. Starting September 1, 2024, CFFI will award a match of fifty cents for every dollar that is raised for our partners. There is a limit of $5,000 awarded per partner organization and awarded on a first come basis until we have awarded up to $35,000. The match will end on September 30, 2024.
Donations must be dated during the month of September 2024 and turned in to Harvey Lewis, Executive Director as soon as possible as when the $35,000 is awarded the matching will be over. Donations will be put towards the match when funds are turned in to the Executive Director. Online donations are acceptable and will be based on date of donation. Due to the restrictions of the grant, donations are not matched for Fairs & Festivals, Fireworks, Donor Advised Funds, and Shooting Sports Funds. If you have any questions regarding your donation or if there is anything else we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact us at 620-330-0011 or cffiindy@gmail.com.
The Community Foundation for Independence is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
Established in 2006, the Community Foundation for Independence helps to enrich our community through philanthropy, collaboration and leadership. We support nonprofits, encourage volunteerism, provide advised giving for donors, inspire youth and award scholarships, and connect neighbors.
WHAT WE DO
If you live or work in Independence, chances are good that the Community Foundation FOR INDEPENDENCE has already touched your life in some way, large or small, because we:
Provide grants to nonprofits and agencies that serve Independence and the surrounding areas, from the food shelf to the fire department;
Serve as a fiscal sponsor to small groups and organizations that need help with their community projects, such as building the Veterans Freedom Square or Central Park Sports Complex;
Hold philanthropic funds for Independence individuals and families who do local grant-making on their own;
Serve as a leader and catalyst for community good; and
Hold events where neighbors can connect and form friendships.
As you can see, the Foundation is so much more than just a grantmaking organization. Together we help supply oxygen to the beating heart of the Independence community. When you help the Foundation, you’re helping make Independence a better place to live.
