WHAT DOES THE CFFI DO?

The Community Foundation for Independence, or CFFI, helps people and organizations give back to the community in meaningful ways. We connect donors with local causes they care about and provide flexible giving options through a variety of funds. Whether someone wants to create a lasting endowment or give through a simpler non-endowed fund, the CFFI makes it easy to support the future of Independence.

We also partner with civic and community organizations that want to make a difference but don’t have their own nonprofit status. By offering the use of our 501(c)(3), we give these groups the ability to fundraise, manage donations, and carry out their charitable projects, all while ensuring transparency and accountability.

At its core, CFFI exists to strengthen our community today while building resources for tomorrow.

HOW DOES MY ORGANIZATION APPLY TO WORK WITH THE CFFI?

  • Application

    Organizations, charities, and nonprofits that would like to partner with CFFI are invited to complete our application form. A $50 application fee is required with submission.

  • Review

    Our Board of Directors meets monthly to review new applications, monitor existing partner organizations, and oversee ongoing giving initiatives. At times, we may also ask organizations to present at a board meeting.

  • Notification

    Once your organization is accepted, we will meet with your designated representative to complete the necessary paperwork and finalize the partnership.
